COVID-19: Changes to massage practice
Information for clients below:
Lockdown has now been relaxed enough and massage therapists have been given the green light to return to work. Therefore, I am now ready to make appointments. There will be some changes in the process both before and during each session, to help ensure both yours and my safety.
Before I arrive, please check your temperature, and consider if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms:
- Dry persistent cough
- Temperature over 37.8° Centigrade
- Lack of taste or smell
If yes to any of those questions, please postpone or cancel your appointment.
All Clients will have a pre-session consultation that will now take place via the phone after an electronic form has been completed, this will be emailed to you.
There will also be a consent form to complete regarding exposure to COVID-19. If you are considered a high-risk client, it may not be possible to massage you at this time e.g if you are over 70, have been told to shield, are pregnant.
Please ventilate the room before I arrive (open windows), it’s also advisable to do this once I’ve left.
When I arrive, I will take your temperature with an infrared thermometer (touchless).
I will be wearing PPE including a face mask, face shield, apron, I will wear shoe covers when in your house and anything I bring into your house will be put on a piece of couch roll so that it doesn’t come into direct contact with anything in your house.
I will also wear gloves for the massage Being massaged in gloves is not unpleasant – you will barely feel it. I will be using Nitrile gloves as they feel better, don’t degrade with oil and don’t cause issues with allergies.
You may wish to wear a mask, but you don’t have to.
Please make sure I can wash my hands before and after your treatment. I will use alcohol gel before entering your house to prevent possible contamination. I will put on gloves after washing my hands.
The massage table will have been thoroughly disinfected and the linens are all clean. I will wipe over the table in your house so that you can be assured it’s been disinfected, I will also do this again at the end of the appointment.
I will only be using liquid wax which is dispensed from a pump dispenser.
Appointments will only be a maximum of 1 hour long to limit potential exposure but the entire appointment will be over 90 minutes due to setting up, cleaning and packing away.
Please ensue any members of the family that are not having a massage do not come into the room you are being treated in.
I will no longer be taking cash. Payment can be made via my website, by card or by bank transfer.
If you have had any covid 19 syptoms including fever, cough, sore throat, loss of taste/smell please cancel your appointment, I will give you a full refund and there is NO cancellation fee.
If I develop any Covid-19 symptoms I WILL be cancelling your appointment. I apologise if this happens but I can’t risk potentially infecting my clients and other members of their household.
NB: This information is likely to change as the situation regarding use of PPE is fluid.
